Sales Engineer

Stanchion is seeking a Sales Engineer to support its sales executives in selling technology solutions to prospects and existing customers. The ideal Sales Engineer needs to possess technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a track record in designing and/or selling complex enterprise solutions. This role involves designing and proposing solutions to meet customer requirements, and delivering compelling presentations and demos.

A key element of the Stanchion strategy is to introduce and deliver our digital product offering into the global market. The main purpose of the Sales Engineering role is to bridge the gap between the technical and sales departments in the company. A combination of technical and strategic sales skills is needed to successfully communicate the Stanchion value proposition and persuade prospects to adopt the Stanchion product portfolio as a key functional building block of their enterprise digital payments architecture. Stanchion is searching for such a Sales Engineer to expand our Verto, SwitchCare, Professional Services and Partner product offering.

Required qualifications/experience:

  • Honours Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in the Card Payments industry
  • In-depth knowledge of Card Payments industry products
  • Understanding of FinTech, Banking, and Retail sectors

Preferred qualifications/experience:

  • 5 – 7 years as a Payments Subject Matter Expert
  • Previous experience in a Sales Engineer role and/or business consulting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of APIs
  • Experienced coding, preferably in Java
  • Advanced knowledge of Java, Spring, JEE

24/7 Technical Engineer

Full-time/shift work

Stanchion is seeking 24/7 Technical Engineers to join the monitoring team which provides operational support across all our clients. The support includes daily monitoring of the payments environment as well as point of sale support and dealing with issues as they occur. Technicians are responsible for ensuring that all incidents that are logged are effectively resolved; managed and escalated if necessary within SLA.

Important skills:

  • Understanding and knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • The ability to monitor workflows
  • Understanding of incident management
  • To work according to set processes
  • Basic understanding of Postilion or payment systems and the payment environment
  • Logical thinker
  • Attention to detail

Expectations:

  • Handling of day-to-day incidents and requests for information
  • Request basic transaction queries
  • Logging of all new incidents into service desk
  • Management of open incidents
  • Assist with problem solving
  • Technical support of the environment we support

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in IT/IS or related qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a payments or financial environment

  • Fluent in English • Prior technical support in a payments/ banking environment would be an advantage

Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for strong experienced developers who can fulfill a senior role within our product development division and who meet the following criteria:

Job Accountabilities:

  • Oversee and mentor junior team members
  • Contribute to improving processes and methodology within the team
  • Contribute to system design to support business needs
  • Write technical specifications from business requirements
  • Develop solutions from technical specifications
  • Highlight and address errors or shortcomings in received requirements and specifications
  • Write high-quality, readable code to applicable standards (including internal and external customer’s standards)
  • Ensure that version control is properly performed
  • Troubleshoot defects
  • Deliver software that is thoroughly tested and debugged
  • Effectively communicate status without prior prompting
  • Liaise with other divisions within Stanchion
  • Documentation and contributing to the Knowledge base (Stanchion Wiki)
  • Assist with code quality assurance i.e. code reviews, testing, etc.

Pre-requisite skills required include:

  • Development experience of 8 – 10 years minimum with relevant senior development experience
  • B-level tertiary qualification on ITS / Engineering / Computer Science / Electronic Engineering
  • Spring Framework experience
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Microservice Architecture experience
  • Familiarity with software design best practices
  • Management of a Product Development Lifecycle
  • Product testing, regression, automated testing methodologies
  • Ability to think and act strategically and systemically, whilst managing operationally
  • Ability to inspire creativity, innovation, and solution thinking
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Additional (non-essential) competencies (Design Pattern knowledge, Perspective & insight into the global fintech & payment environments
